One of the originals is nowadays part of the collection of the National History Museum in Berlin. Combs of this type were introduced throughout the Roman Empire by Germanic auxiliae, and remained in use until well into the 10th century. This handy comb was presumably employed primarily to groom the beard. It is supplied with a leather case.
