Mike Piazza A Home Run To Remember Color:Ash because we’ve got a hankeringSometimes, a home run is more than just a home run. In the first professional sporting event in New York City since the attacks of 9 11, the Mets victory over the Braves on September 21st, 2001 became a healing moment for a hurting city. The defining moment of the game? Mike Piazzas two run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning, which ignited the crowd at Shea Stadium and helped cement his place as a legendary New Yorker forever. Pay homage.
